The Final Blog part 1 - How I Made it to New York
I know it’s back!
Applying for Mountbatten When I decided upon trying out for the Mountbatten programme I asked myself one single question and that was if I don’t do this will I regret it. You see, my life wasn’t bad before but it had become stagnant after finishing university. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life. I had a good family, a good group of friends and relatively...

Niagara Falls...
Okay so Niagara Falls. Well it all started nicely on the pretence that we were in for a 6h 30min coach ride from New York to Niagara Falls. From the moment that the China Town bus moved away on Saturday at 8 in the morning we were in for a shock. It started with our tour guide called Vicky. She was a nice enough person but I got the feeling that she didn’t really get the whole idea that...
Halloween in New York...
Well halloween in New York is definitely a crazy one. Everybody dresses up so if you don’t dress up you’re the one that is left out. There is a store called Ricky’s that opens up many big stores in and around New York specifically selling costumes. I went in two days before halloween to get my costume and the queue’s were up to an hour long just to pay for your costume! ...

A Magnificent Trip to Philly, the Botanical...
Okay so I know I have been out for a long time and there is probably way too much that I have missed out but it’s impossible to recall it all, instead I am returning to blogging with my recent experiences then move on from there so here goes…
This past Saturday I went to a place called Philadelphia. I left in the morning and came back in the evening via bus. So my thoughts on Philly are this,...

This is Cafe Whaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
PS1, Café Wha and Ha! Comedy Club…
So Part 2 starts off with PS1. PS1 is a Museum of modern Art (MoMA) event in Long Island City, Queens. It is basically a party that happens every Saturday during the summer and is a museum in its own right. I believe it was a school before it became a museum. Below are some pictures of the art. Once checking out the art everybody congregates in the courtyard where there is a band playing...
Part 1 - A Jolly Nice Day at Bronx Zoo, Britney...
Okay I know it has been a fair while since I last put up a new blog entry so this will be a little longer than normal and I will put it up in two parts over a few days. I’ve got plenty of things coming up so I will need to keep up with my blogging so keep checking back for new entries.
Anyway, first things first I am going to talk about when I visited Bronx Zoo. The Bronx is not an area you...

I Love New York. First 6 Months of Fun!!!
Seeing the UN Building, Shakespeare Can be a Bit...
Well on Saturday I met up with my friend Daria from the September intake. If it wasn’t for her I would never have known about Mounbatten and therefore never have been here to have the blerdy amazing time that I am having here! Anyway, we decided to go for a walk around Manhattan. I wanted to see the UN Headquarters so we took a walk there first. On our way there we stopped off at a place...
The Danger Party, Finally Joining the Gym and RA...
Okay so the weekends are getting tough for me. I’ve had one day off since being here and that was a bank holiday. It seems like I get to the weekend and I get tired from the week I’ve had so you’ll be pleased to know I’m booking a day off work in the next couple of weeks, to help me catch up on my sleep. Anyway, enough of the sleep chat, onto the danger party. The...

Shopping in NYC, a Jolly Nice Day by the Beach and...
Hey guess what, I finally got round to shopping after only 4 and a half months in NY. Now for some of you coming to NY means only one thing, and that is shopping but I hate shopping so when I go I just want to get it out of the way quickly. I decided I needed a couple more work shirts and some shorts as well as a case for my ipod to stop the over-priced gadget from scratching. For the amount I...
The Freaks of Coney Island, the Grudge Match and...
Okay so a late post this week. Just haven’t been able to find the time to write but I am here now. So I went to a place on the coast called Coney Island, which is about an hour out of Manhattan on the subway. It’s got an alright beach, a week before I was there they were holding the annual hot dog eating competition where the record was apparently beaten with a record of 66 hot dogs...
Atlantic City, Independence Day and Kayaking on...
So as Independence Day fell on a Saturday, a lot of people had the Friday off work. I didn’t as at JPMorgan we get a floating holiday, which basically means I have gained another vacation day to take off whenever I want, so now I have 11 days vacation day left to take. I haven’t had a day off since being here so I’m going to start using those from next month probably. Anyway,...
A Quiet Week for Once!
This post is going to be much shorter than most but firstly I forgot to add something to last weeks post, which was when I went to a comedy club in Greenwich Village. We went to the club at 1 in the morning and this wasn’t a broadway comedy club, not an off broadway comedy club but an off off broadway club in a dunky underground bar. I didn’t expect too much but some of the comedians...

The Intrepid, Sex Museum, Cricket Against the...
Saturday was a horribly bad day for weather so I thought it would be a good idea to go to the Intrepid Museum. The Intrepid is an aircraft carrier that has been converted into a museum after it was decommissioned. The Intrepid Museum also includes a Concord, the USS Growler, an old submarine and many amazing aircraft that used to fly including the Blackbird which is still considered the fastest...
The Met, Webster 'All, Perto Rican Festival and...
So I took a trip last weekend to another art museum, this time the Met. It is probably the biggest of all the art museums I’ve been to and another free entry thanks to my corporate membership with JPMorgan! It is a good museum, again I really don’t get art but there is some cool stuff. There are a lot of old sculptures there. Most of them are Greek naked men. Why they have to be...

My Six Flags Adventure and Cafeteria (as in the...
So on Saturday I went to a theme park called six flags in New Jersey. This required me waking up early on a SATURDAY and then going for a longish journey to this theme park. I woke up and left the apartment at 7:15 and got on the train to a place called Newark. From there we were able to book on to a bus and buy our tickets for the park at the same time with a company called Great Adventures! ...
Flea Market, Rowing in Central Park, Making...
Okay so this is quite a late update for me. Usually I aim for the first few days of the week so I apologise! I guess I’m working myself too hard these days. What’s that all about eh?!
Anyway, to start things off on Saturday I tried something that youmay do when you come to New York and that is go to a flea market. I went to a flea market in a place called “Hell’s...

My Impressions of Boston...
Right so my first impressions of Boston are this…It is much quieter, cleaner, smaller, less crazier and generally less interesting when you compare it to New York, but I’m not complaining, it was good to get away and it is a very nice place but I like the crazy of New York. I reckon you could probably see all the sights in a day if you really packed it in.
So my impressions of Boston...

Role Play, MOMA the CEO of JPMorgan Chase and a...
Okay so this weekend started off quite badly due to the fact I had to wake up at 730 on a Saturday morning to perform in a role play in front of my peers. This is something that we have been working on for weeks. I was in a group that was about Barack Obama’s first 100 days in power and we had to have a discussion on that topic. I played Michael Steele the head of the Republican National...

Twilight Cruise, Random Nights Out, Star Trek and...
This weekend I went on an awesome twilight river cruise. It started off just as a normal boat ride around New York and back round again allowing plenty of chances to take pictures of New York, but this was boring in comparison to what would happen. The boat aligned itself with the Statue of Liberty just as the sun was setting. This allowed for some amazing pictures to be taken, most of which...
Guggenheim and Food in the Upper East Side and...
Well things have started to quieten/slow down a little bit now. I guess the whole partying and working non-stop thing was bound to come to an end eventually, not to say that I’m slowing down too much. I’m still having an amazing time don’t you worry!
Anyways on Saturday I went to the Guggenheim and I have to say I was very disappointed. Luckily I get in for free thanks to the perk of working...

Oliver Cares he really does, Central Park in 32C,...
This week the charity within me came out. Not only am I working and living in New York, studying for a certificate, but I am now also getting involved in charity. There is a charity organisation called New York Cares who I had my orientation with this week. The orientation pretty much consisted of this woman telling us her stories but nothing substantial like the processes involved in applying...
Roller Disco in Brooklyn and the new Family!
Okay so I’ve been waiting to get some pictures from people to put up from the weekend but I haven’t been able to get any yet even though loads were taken, so this is why I am putting this blog up later than normal! I’ll put the pictures up once I have them so don’t you worry about that! So anyway, at the weekend I went to a roller disco. I was pretty tired because it was Friday night after a...
Ellen Stardust, Return to 230 on 5th and a day in...
Right where to begin, so a normal week of work as I get into the swing of things so no use talking about that at the moment, but the week is still going fast and sleep is still hard to come by but that’s normal! So the enjoyment begins on Friday night after I had to be in work whilst everyone at home has the bank holiday weekend off. We don’t get easter off here but luckily I was given the...
