Oliver Cares he really does, Central Park in 32C, an ASSIGNMENT!, and Mash!
This week the charity within me came out. Not only am I working and living in New York, studying for a certificate, but I am now also getting involved in charity. There is a charity organisation called New York Cares who I had my orientation with this week. The orientation pretty much consisted of this woman telling us her stories but nothing substantial like the processes involved in applying for volunteer work. You can volunteer for things like teaching kids how to play football (soccer), walking homeless dogs, cleaning parks, etc. So now my orientation is out of the way I can now apply for work, which I will do when something comes up that I have the time for as well!
This weekend the weather really has kicked in. 32C and New York looks more amazing than ever. Everyone is so much happier when the weather gets better like this, but after a while that goes away again when they realise that it can sometimes be too hot! Still I love it and I should get used to this now because it’s only going to get hotter as the summer goes on.
So on Saturday I went to Central Park as this was our first nice day that we weren’t in work. I’ve never been so far into Central Park because it is so blerdy big. It’s quite easy to walk the width of it but not the length of it. Anyway I had a really nice day and caught a bit of the sun but not too much. Some people have really gotten themselves burnt, they really have themselves to blame for that I have no sympathy!!! The problem I had this weekend was that everyone had a history mid-term assignment on their minds so the weekend was a bit of a let down.
I spent a lot of Sunday trying to do my assignment indoors whilst it was so nice outdoors. Anyway it’s done now and I can enjoy the rest of the week at work! Sunday was also the day when two of my friends decided they were going to have a mashed potato making contest, as in who can make the best mashed potato. I thought the idea was totally ridiculous but the guys took it really seriously and to be fair to them, they made some good mashed potato. I think I might make my world famous spaghetti bolognese next weekend so I’ll keep you posted on that! By the way, no one won as the person appointed to be a judge was far too impartial and couldn’t give a clear winner!
BTW I’m eating far too much. I get home from work and all I do is eat. I think it’s way too easy to eat in this country. You may see a whole new me by the time I get back. A much bigger me perhaps!!!
