Guggenheim and Food in the Upper East Side and some Coyote Ugly Fun

Well things have started to quieten/slow down a little bit now.  I guess the whole partying and working non-stop thing was bound to come to an end eventually, not to say that I’m slowing down too much.  I’m still having an amazing time don’t you worry!

Anyways on Saturday I went to the Guggenheim and I have to say I was very disappointed.   Luckily I get in for free thanks to the perk of working for a bank in New York.  The reason why it was a letdown was because they had basically shut the whole building off whilst they’re working on a new exhibition.  This meant that there were only two small floors of artwork (not that I am a fan of art anyway but I still expected to see more there.)  There were a few Monet’s, Van Gogh’s, etc.  I found some of the artwork interesting but I don’t get the whole standing in front of a piece of artwork and staring at it for half an hour or so!  I guess that’s why I’m not a fan of art but at least I’m attempting at being cultured.  The Guggenheim building itself is very nice.  Very modern and a picture below.

Guggenheim

The Guggenheim is in the Upper East Side of New York, which is quite a posh area.  Loads of nice restaurants and it is here where we stopped for some dinner.  We went to an Italian called Toni’s.  At this restaurant each dish costs about $20, which is quite steep for one dish but the reason why is because their food is served in platters!  This caused a problem because one platter can serve a family but when everybody wants to order something different it can get annoying, but we worked it out and had some nice food at a good price when you’re sharing it.  I was stuffed by the end of it!  You also get the leftovers all boxed up to take home and have some other time.  Good times!

Saturday night I went to a place called Coyote Ugly.  This is a famous bar because it has a film named after it.  This bar though is a proper dive bar.  It is not as you come to expect from a Hollywood film.  The bar ladies are not desirable, your feet stick to the floor, middle aged men receive their shots straight from the bar ladies mouth, literally!  Oh and you get randomly flashed by drunk girls so all in all a good night.  It is a fun place but not necessarily one that I’ll keep going back to!
