The Met, Webster ‘All, Perto Rican Festival and the FREE Sony Museum!
So I took a trip last weekend to another art museum, this time the Met. It is probably the biggest of all the art museums I’ve been to and another free entry thanks to my corporate membership with JPMorgan! It is a good museum, again I really don’t get art but there is some cool stuff. There are a lot of old sculptures there. Most of them are Greek naked men. Why they have to be naked is beyond me. One of them was quite good because he was holding up a head of someone he just cut the head off. Check the picture out below… The rest of the Met was typical arty stuff. After the museum I walked through Central Park and went through the paths where you could get yourself lost. There are some woods in the middle and you can have a lot of fun picking and choosing different paths and seeing where you end up and find nice places to hide in the middle of NYC!
Saturday night I went to a club called Webster Hall, which is quite famous. It only cost me a dollar to get in and a dollar for drinks which was pretty good going. They were having a circus themed night so there were midgets, cross dressers and others walking around which was quite funny. Had a good night even though my first drink cost me $10 when it should have cost a dollar. The reason being because a girl on her bachelorette party made me buy her a shot which cost $9! I said I was a poor intern but for some reason I felt I couldn’t say no!
On Sunday I went to the street festival for Puerto Rican Day Parade. There were so many Puerto Ricans on the street. It was good fun and everyone was in good spirits. I’ve put a video up to show what it was like. Where all of these Puerto Ricans came from is beyond me. I’ve never seen 5th Avenue so packed before!
Whilst walking down the street with the festival we found ourselves at the Sony Museum. It’s a free museum and I went there when I came to NY with my family a few years ago. It used to have a robot that could actually have a conversation with you. Unfortunately it’s gone to some other museum, which was a shame because I wanted to have a conversation with it! Anyway the museum is good fun. It is all about technology and how it all works. You can do cool things like dance and it puts your moves on a cartoon character, and you can create your own games and stuff. I love technology so it was a good laugh.
After the museum I went to central park again to chill out. It was a nice day so just sat back and soaked in the rays. The rest of this week has been non-stop rain. Apparently this has been the coldest June on record in NY. I am not sure whether I believe that or not. It’s not been cold just very wet. Typical though they have weather like this when I am over here!
